If a hot tub is installed within a house should it be notified to Building Control under Part P regulations?

Part P document specifically only mentions rooms with a bath or shower!

Otherwise it could be a swimming pool, though I would tend to settle for it being a bath, when installed indoors.

Only if it's part of a full rewire or consumer unit upgrade assuming the tub requires a brand new supply and doesn't just plug in

It's only the electrical work that be would be notifiable, if it needs a new circuit or consumer unit upgrade.

I have two separate hot tubs to sort out next week.

The first has a moulded plug and trailing 10 mA RCD on it's attached flex, so only needs a outdoor socket off a existing circuit, so is not notifiable.

The second on is 28.5 amps and requires hardwiring with a new dedicated circuit, so is notifiable.

Must be a Friday question !
Ask yourselves what makes a bathroom a bathroom in electrical terms...Do you not see a similarity with a bath and a tub? compare the amount of insulated clothing when climbing into a bath tub and a hot tub.
Will the control of heat and turbulence be within 600mm of the edge of the tub so what type of switches will be used?
Where would you expect to find the isolation?

Silly me.

I thought the term was Location containg fixed bath or shower.
Therefore a special location therefore notifiable.
If it needs a new circuit would be notifiable anyway.
