Introductory Managers Guide to EMC for Functional Safety

Functional safety is part of the overall safety of a system that depends upon the correct functioning of electrical and/or electronic equipment. All electronic equipment (hardware and/ or software) is vulnerable to certain electromagnetic disturbances (electromagnetic interference EMI).  Where EMI might cause errors, malfunctions or failures in the correct functioning of equipment or systems that need to be functionally safe then design measures need to be taken to reduce such risk to an acceptable level.  The IET has produced guidance on the subject.
