About this event

Since about 2012, mature technology in wireless communication and smart phone has created many idea and opportunities for innovative applications. One of the major streams is Internet of things products. Through bringing traditional products to networks by themselves directly or via smart-phone, their creators aim to provide conveniences and better living standards to people. In 2018, massive type of products like smart luggage, i-air-conditioners and health watches have comes to markets progressively
However, all these products share similar technology platform and hence are also be vulnerable to similar risks, barrier and limitations like conveniences of usage, cost issue. Also, how those products can actually benefit market and industries eco-system are major concerns. 

Break-through of problems can determines market and future of internet of things products. So what can we do next and how? One of the directions is though internet of things big data.

This seminar will discuss what internet of things big data can do. How we can have break-through on products itself and benefits the society by internet of things big data and the future of internet of things.


-Overview of Internet of things in the past, their bottle-neck and limitations
-Potential improvement and direction of navigation about Internet of things
-Big data solutions against current limitations.
-Future vision of internet of things.

About the speaker – Eric Kuo & Evan Lee
Mr. Kuo Wai Keung Eric obtained the MPhil in Technology leadership and entrepreneurship at HKUST. After being inspired during exchange at Peking University, Eric Kuo found the R-Guardian which focuses on the IoT in Smart personal belongings. 

Mr. Evan Lee is the software director of R-Guardian. He had worked in Microsoft ERP Solution as an expert on cyber security. In 2015, R-Guardian won the Champion including of "Professor Charles Kao award” and the CUHK President’s Cup. In 2016, R-Guardian entered into the Hong Kong Science Park Incubation program and became one of the ten startups in Google EYE program. After that, R-Guardian had won the National Challenge Cup Grand Award in Hong Kong region and also got the 3 Million RMB fundraising. Now, R-Guardian sales order is over 20 million RMB per year and the current company valuation is over HKD 100 million
