About this event

We are delighted to announce our next Annual Healthcare Lecture will be taking place 31 October 2018. Come along and listen to our 2018 IET Healthcare Award winners and our keynote speaker, Dr Peter Young who will talk about “Engineering safety into medicine”.

Before the keynote talk, the winners of the IET Healthcare Technologies Student and Early Career Awards (Dennis Hill Award, William James Award, and J.A. Lodge Award) will present their groundbreaking work.

Dr Peter Young MD, FRCA, MB ChB

Keynote talk: “Engineering safety into medicine”

Peter Young is a consultant in Critical Care at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, King's Lynn. Peter's research interests include using human factors principles to prevent patient harm, by engineering fail safes through the development of medical safety innovations to prevent serious adverse and never events. Peter is a fellow NHS Innovation Accelerator Programme and contributes to the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme and has recently been elected to the council of the Association of Anaethetists of Great Britain and Ireland.
