How to tailor content to you on IET EngX®

There are many ways EngX can help you during your studies, whether that is looking for inspiration from across the industry and academia for your next assignment, or for career advice and support from those who have been there and done it – there are plenty of ways to utilise our online communities platform.

And getting started is simple, you don’t need to be a member of the IET to participate, all you need to do is sign up online: engx.theiet.org

Here is how best to find the subjects and categories you are interested in:

Find the topics you are interested in

There is a whole host of categories and subjects discussed on EngX and to make it easier you can add your interests to your profile. There are a few ways to update your interests:

1. All you have to do is visit your profile, select edit and scroll down the page until you see the list of technical topics.
2. On the homepage feed, select view my topics and then manage my topics.
3. Find your profile avatar in the top right corner and select subscriptions from the drop-down menu, then select manage my interests.

Now you have selected your interests, you’ll be able to see events matching your chosen technical interests. You will be able to see these on:

The home page under upcoming and local events, the topics page in the explore menu and the event page which is pre-filtered by your interests.

If you have signed up to a digest from the home page, you will also receive notifications of events based on your technical interests and Local Network – so make sure you sign up and are in the know!

Find events in your Local Network

When you are logged into your EngX account you will see upcoming events put on by your primary Local Network, followed by other Local Networks you are interested in. This is all housed under the upcoming and local events tab.
