IET Governance Review: initial proposal briefing pack for your involvement

Please share your thoughts on our IET Governance Review.

The recent update sets the context of our transformation journey over the past three years, in becoming a more connected and agile organisation, and the IET Governance Review is a key part of ensuring our organisation is fit for the future.

The review is being led by Dawn Ohlson with a Working Party, developing an initial proposal for a model that responds to what we have heard across the organisation.

This stage of involvement is vital and your input will directly influence the final proposal. As a volunteer, before we take this to the wider membership, we are asking to hear any new or additional thoughts you’d like to contribute at this stage.

Please find below a video and briefing pack to support your full understanding of the context and intended benefits of the initial proposal.

Should you require alternative formats, please do let us know via governance@theiet.org.

Most importantly, once you’ve had a chance to reflect on the proposed model, please share your thoughts and ideas in the survey link, sent to you via email, to support us in our refinement stage.

Your survey link

If you’re a Governance volunteer, an email with your link will come to you via Outlook.

If you're an IET volunteer that is not directly involved with this initial proposal, you will receive a link from our main IET mailbox.

You can share input via the survey link until the survey closes on Wednesday, 15 April 2026.

Alternatively, please feel free to reach out to your usual IET contact, or send us an email via governance@theiet.org.

Our shared commitment

Truly listening at this stage in the process means your voice is essential to shape a model that not only supports how we work today but strengthens our impact as we collaborate with the wider engineering and technology community to engineer a better world.

Thank you for your continued leadership, your commitment, and in advance, for constructively sharing your valuable input in this process. If you have immediate questions, please feel free to reach out to your usual IET contact, or send us an email via governance@theiet.org.
