Welcome

Your local engineering community needs you!

Hopefully over the years you will have been to some IET events in your local area. These events are only possible due to the hard work of dedicated volunteers – but now they need your help. Will you step up?

Business pointing towards you

Are you an engineer or technician looking to take the next step in your career? Or perhaps you are now retired and looking for something stimulating to do.

Whatever your particular situation, have you thought about volunteering for one of the IET’s local communities in the UK? Here are three reasons why we think you should.

  • Wherever you live there will be an IET Local Network that aims to highlight engineering to the wider community through activities and events. These networks are led by a group up of volunteers who feel passionate about engineering and technology. What better place to meet like-minded people?
  • Being a volunteer for a Local Network can be a great way of helping you achieve your career goals. You can network with people from across the local area who are involved in your industry and find out more about all the opportunities that the IET can bring such as Professional Registration.
  • You can develop the skills needed to take the next step in your career. Many networks are looking for younger professionals to help with their marketing, events planning and accounting. If any of these skills would help you in your career, then your Local IET Network is a great place to learn.

We have put together a list of the current opportunities in our local networks and we would urge you to apply as soon as possible. If you are interested in any of these please fill out the related form and someone will be in touch. If you do not hear anything by the start of August please contact the IET Communities Team.
