IET student members that have achieved a level 3 and above qualification in an engineering related subject are eligible to become Professional Members of the IET.
Most importantly this means you can use TMIET letters after your name which will highlight your new Professional status. You are encouraged to make use these letters on your CV, email signature or whenever appropriate. TMIET shows your level of achievement and demonstrates professionalism and commitment to your career development, your employer and the industry you work in.
In order to be part of this prestigious category you will need to confirm your graduate status by completing an apprentice/student transfer application form. A PDF format can be downloaded from the download area of this page.
It won’t cost you anything extra to transfer your membership. You can check your membership status online at ‘My IET’. An that’s not all! when you upgrade your membership to TMIET you will continue to pay the student rate until your next billing. You may claim tax relief on your membership subscriptions as expenses of your profession and some employers may pay your membership fees, if you ask!
