Gadget: Akara K1 Backpack
A pc friendly ‘backpack’ really is the best way to describe the Akara K1 from Pakuma.
From: Pakuma
Price: Approx £50-£60
‘Backpack’ really is the best way to describe the Akara K1 from Pakuma; if you ever felt the need to climb mountains with just your laptop this is the bag you would take. The largest section of the bag is big enough to pack a laptop with a 17” screen and the computer itself is packed in its own mini-pocket, which Pakuma have nick-named the Cocoon. The Cocoon provides that added layer of protection and keeps the laptop secure in its own little padded envelope.
The bag itself is really high quality and available in either brown or green. As well as the main section, there are also two other pockets on the front which are big enough to hold leads, cables and DVDs. There’s actually an in-built disc-holder too. The main pocket also has plenty of room for documents and is surprisingly spacious. Plus two net pockets on each side are perfectly placed to hold that all-important mobile phone and mP3 player or bottle of water.
The Akara can support quite a lot of weight and is very comfortable to wear thanks to padded sections on the back. As well as the shoulder straps there is also one which fixes round your waist and once buckled in, there’s no fear of the bag going anywhere without the person wearing it.
Pakuma are well known for producing high quality laptop cases and their range manages to be stylish, comfortable and functional. The Akara K1 is ergonomically designed for people who take their computer everywhere and while it might not look as clean and minimalist as the Pakuma messenger-style bags, it really is perfect for extended journeys.
The high quality of the materials used in the bag’s manufacture mean the Akara will really last a long time. It’s ideal for students who need to take everything with them and while expensive, it really is one of the best bags on the market.
