The IET have joined forces with e2v to offer you an advice column that we will update every month.

There's a lot of information available about apprentices and technician roles, however sometimes it can be hard to find exactly what you are after. What should I look for in an employer?

I am looking for employment but am not sure what I should be looking for in a company.


How do employers value apprenticeships compared to degrees?

As apprenticeships and degrees are different qualifications, it is difficult to compare the two.


How do NVQs relate to other qualifications?

Can you explain the NVQ equivalent within the National Qualification Framework.


I don't want to miss any apprenticeship opportunities.

When should I apply for an apprenticeship or when will assessments begin?
