This code of practice on Electromagnetic Resilience covers risk management of electromagnetic interference (EMI) for safety-related systems.
It describes a recommended process for supporting functional safety with respect to electromagnetic disturbances over a complete system lifecycle, and specifically provides a range of techniques and measures for application during the following lifecycle stages:
This code should help achieve adequate resilience to EMI for electrical, electronic, and programmable electronic parts of safety-related systems.
When competently applied the code will help with the provision of evidence required for demonstrating that functional safety risks are low enough, and so will contribute towards compliance with IEC 61508 and other functional safety or risk management standards.
It is intended to be used by functional safety professionals; including managers of projects that require functional safety engineering, and practitioners of functional safety engineering.
