We are a small team of skilled information professionals at the IET who can help you with your technical and business enquiries. 

Charges may apply for more than a quick and easy enquiry or if it requires access to specialist sources. There are preferential rates for IET members, student members and business partners.

Who was the enquirer?

A lecturer from a UK university.

Why did they use the Research Service?

  • The free postage book loan service to members is very attractive, but needed to find out how it worked;
  • They had heard of the Virtual Library but weren't sure how to use it or what it might have on nuclear energy;
  • They suspected that the IET Library and Research Service would be a good starting point for this.

What we did.

  • Identified specialist websites;
  • Provided a list of up-to-date books available for loan from the IET Library;
  • Found relevant electronic resources from the Virtual Library and advised on access;
  • Offered to search using online databases which would target the issues and find relevant, current academic discussion papers.
