IET Inspec signs agreement to index Japan Science and Technology Agency journals

Press release - 27 June 2011

Stevenage, UK – The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), one of the world’s leading professional societies for the engineering and technology community, signed an agreement earlier this month to index Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) journals. The agreement enables the IET to load metadata from 186 journals on J-STAGE to the Inspec database. As a result, J-STAGE full text articles from peer-reviewed Japanese academic society journals, are now indexed by Inspec and directly accessible (via Digital Object Identifier links) from search results.

“The addition of these 186 journals to the database not only reinforces the IET’s commitment to providing global coverage but also its ongoing efforts to include relevant content in its fields of research” says Daniel Smith, Head of Academic Publishing, the IET.

Launched in 1999, J-STAGE (Japan Science and Technology Information Aggregator, Electronic-developed by JST) is the largest not-for-profit electronic journal platform for academic journals in Japan. It aims to disseminate research output efficiently and effectively by encouraging Japanese academic societies to publish their journals electronically.

Inspec currently provides more than 12 million records containing abstracts and subject indexing from 1898 to present, covering the fields of physics, electrical engineering & electronics, computers & control, information technology, manufacturing & production engineering and more.
