Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nivel Superior (CAPES), established over 57 years, is a government agency linked to the Brazilian Ministry of Education in charge of promoting high standards for post-graduate courses in Brazil. Over 380 universities in Brazil gain access to higher education technology resources, literature and databases from its affiliation with CAPES.
The IET works closely with CAPES in providing the scientific, physics and engineering universities under its umbrella, access to the world renowned Inspec database. CAPES is committed to keeping its access to technology resources cutting edge; alignment with IET publishing resources speaks to this commitment. IET representatives visited CAPES headquarters in Brasilia in November of 2013 to ensure their satisfaction with Inspec and to offer product training.
Engineering is extremely important to both Brazil and CAPES. For the first time in Brazil, more students are studying Engineering than Law which is favourable for Engineering and Science program electronic resources. CAPES new developments include their initiative to offer free access to institutions in low income regions in South America and parts of Africa where Portuguese is the primary language.

These activities can be grouped into the following lines of action, each developed by a structured set of programs:
As CAPES expands their reach across Brazil and faces the challenges of bringing emerging technology to challenged parts of the world, researchers under the CAPES umbrella can rest assured that CAPES is equipped with the best in engineering digital resources with access to the Inspec database and IET resources.
