Inspec products and services

The information contained in the Inspec database can be retrieved through a variety of products with prices to suit most budgets.

Inspec Direct

Inspec Direct, an enhanced search platform of Inspec, the world’s leading bibliographic database providing access to scientific and technical literature will be available as an online research tool from January 2008.

 

Inspec site licence

An Inspec site licence is an annual subscription that allows unlimited searching of the database. It is available either direct from the IET via Inspec Direct or from most Inspec vendors. In addition, the data is available from the IET as XML for local loading, through the Direct Data service. 

 

Inspec direct data

Inspec data can be delivered in XML weekly by file transfer (FTP) for customers who wish to load the database in-house using their own software.

 

Inspec Archive

The Science Abstracts series of journals were the precursor to the Inspec database. The entire collection has now been digitised (1898-1968) and is available from the IET via Inspec Direct or from most Inspec vendors.

 

Inspec pay-as-you-go

For those who do not need unlimited searching, pay-as-you-go access is available through Inspec vendors.

 

Inspec Current Awareness

Inspec Current Awareness is a weekly email updating service designed to provide  subscribers with the most up-to-date profiles in their chosen subject areas. These products offer flexibility in delivery and the ability to test profiles before buying.

 

Inspec print journals

The Physics Abstracts, Electrical & Electronics Abstracts and Computer & Control Abstracts journals together contain almost all of the 350,000 or more short summaries of published articles which also appear annually in the Inspec database.

 

Inspec Ondisc

Inspec Ondisc is the complete database (from 1989 onwards) available on CD-ROM, which can be searched using HEADFAST/Hunter software.

 

Inspec search aids

Inspec produce a range of search aids to assist the user to find the right results. These comprise the Inspec Classification, the Inspec Thesaurus and the List of Journals.
