Consultation on ‘A stronger voice for health and safety’ – the merger of the Health and Safety Commission (HSC) and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE): IET comments to the HSC.
Abstract The proposed merger will potentially increase accountability, add greater clarity to roles, help to avoid confusion and modernise the system of regulating health and safety at work in Great Britain. It is essential that businesses and employee representative bodies have a strong voice in the new organisation. It is also important that professional bodies are acknowledged as an important source of independent advice. The priority for the new organisation must be to identify and build contacts with all of its stakeholders.
