Abstract The impact of a national policy framework will depend upon what interventions, incentives and leadership the policy framework actually promises. Creating new incentives is preferable to setting mandatory country installation targets. There is still not enough information to determine and set a fixed target, although trials are currently on going to understand this. The results from trials should be used to determine numbers and type of EV chargers to be installed. Intelligent control and access should be included in the proposal to help reduce range anxiety and increase EV range.
