Inquiry into the “UK’s energy supply – security or independence?”: IET supplementary evidence to the House of Commons Energy and Climate Change Committee.
Abstract
This supplementary evidence answers questions posed by the Committee further to the IET’s oral evidence session on 5 July 2011. It covers the Department of Energy and Climate Change’s capacity and approach to systems thinking in relation to energy supply; the risks associated with taking a more top-down systems approach; the costs of carbon capture; the types of electricity storage that could feasibly be developed; electricity storage and wind energy; and the potential of hydrogen produced through electrolysis as an option for multi-day storage.
