S863 - SQA National 4 and National 5 course development

Description

SQA National 4 and National 5 course development enquiry March 2010: IET comments to the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA).

Abstract

The three strand model outlined is a useful start. However, a number of elements should be added. The model would not work for all technologies courses. An understanding of why the uptake in Technological Studies is very patchy is required before moving to the proposed solutions. A general engineering course should be made available at all levels. There is a need for specific national courses in electronics, which could be linked to engineering systems.
