Getting involved in the consultation process

The IET presents the views of its members on a wide range of professional, social and economic issues. The Policy Department ensures that the IET responds on matters of policy in a consistent manner and that it represents views that will generally command the support of IET members. It follows procedures agreed by the board of trustees which has the final authority for any external policy statements made by the IET.

Consultation includes relevant IET Policy Panels, Technical and Professional Networks, Local Networks and Business Partners as well as individual members via the website.

Members are invited to keep up to date by referring to the list of Submissions in progress. For automatic email notification of consultations in your areas of interest you may register with Policy Keys.

Inputs are preferred by email and members should include the following details:

Full name
IET membership number
Postal address
Email address and phone number in case of queries

Members contributing are asked to state their relevant experience and any commercial interest in the topic, though all inputs will be treated confidentially in the production of a corporate view and individual contributors will not be named.

Where consultation questions are provided in the consultative document, members should address these questions specifically. It is not necessary to answer all of the questions.

Thank you for your contributions.
