Helen is a Consultant in the Industrial Sustainability team at Ove Arup & Partners.
Now a Chartered engineer her career started in Aerospace working in operations support roles in electronic and hydraulic controls for aircraft. This work included training in Green Belt Six Sigma and several improvement projects across the shop floor and supply chain. Her final role in this sector involved working on the technology of the Environmental Friendly Engine which led her to take her current job at Arup in operations design and sustainability in industry.
Helen now leads carbon footprinting work covering a variety of sectors as well as UK wide projects. She was one of the first people in the UK to become a Registered Consultant with the Carbon Trust for PAS 2050 assessments and has been party to discussions in the revision of PAS 2050 carbon footprint specification, the new Greenhouse Gas Protocol standards and presented at public events on sustainable supply chain solutions and carbon footprinting.
She also works on logistics-based solutions and advising businesses on waste management, energy reduction and researching innovative, sustainable solutions in industry.
She is also heavily involved in The Institution for Mechanical Engineers Manufacturing Excellence Programme as judge of the Arup Sustainable Manufacturing Award.
