Zoe joined the Technology Strategy Board in July 2007 as the Technologist for Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). She was responsible for the development of the UK Technology Strategy for ICT which was published in October 2008. This involved a wide consultation with the ICT industry which will continue into the implementation of the strategy.
Previously, Zoe was a consultant in Intelligent Systems at Systems Engineering and Assessment (SEA) in Beckington, Somerset. From 2000 to 2006 she worked for QinetiQ in Malvern as a Research Scientist focused on the areas of machine learning, text analysis and personalisation. While at QinetiQ, Zoe completed a full-time PhD on personalised information filtering at the University of York.
She has a BEng in Computer Science from the University of York, which included a year-long Industrial Placement at Marconi Communications in Coventry working in software testing, software strategy and marketing, and software development, and a MSc in Intelligent Systems from the School of Cognitive and Computing Sciences at Sussex University where she won a prize from Searchspace for her dissertation on the Induction and Evaluation of Semantic Networks.
