Jean-Louis founded ideXlab in 2010 to offer Open Innovation services, i.e. to help companies accelerate their transition towards a world where innovation comes from everywhere.
Before founding ideXlab, Jean-Louis spent over 8 years working for BT in the UK where his last position was Director of Research and Innovation. He has over 20 years of experience in hardware, software and telecommunication services.
He started his career in 1983 as a researcher, working in the field of Solid State Devices and Telecommunications in France (France Telecom Research, Alcatel) and the United States (MIT). In 1991 he became Consultant in Innovation and conducted over 20 missions in marketing, value analysis or new product development for large corporates. In 1995, he joined Alcatel's Mobile Phone Division as Marketing Director for handsets where he pioneered smartphones and mobile internet implementations and then became Vice President of Strategy & Business Development.
He has been an assistant professor with the EcoleNationaleSupérieure des Telecommunications of Paris between 2001 and 2004 and a member of the Advisory Board of the Cambridge – MIT Institute during 2005-2007. He is serving as an expert for a number of professional institutions and Governmental bodies including the Industrial Development Agency in Ireland and ParisTech in Paris.
He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Paris-Orsay, an MsC in Engineering from the Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble and a Masters degree in Economics from the University of Paris Pantheon-Sorbonne.
