Press release

Two training providers named Centres of Excellence by engineering body

20 August 2013

Group Horizon Ltd and TradeSkills4U have been named Centres of Excellence for providing high quality training courses for electrical installers and contractors.

Chief Executive of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Nigel Fine, presented the two organisations with their IET Centre of Excellence certificates last week (August 14) at a ceremony in London. Group Horizon and TradeSkills4U are the first training providers to be recognised by the IET’s Centres of Excellence program.

The IET awards training providers with this accolade to reassure course attendees that the courses provide the necessary skills and knowledge to comply with the IET Standards and Technical Regulations publications.

Nigel Fine, IET Chief Executive, said: “We have launched the IET Centres of Excellence program in response to a reported shortfall in the quality of training provision across the electrical installation and contracting occupational areas. Recognising training providers as Centres of Excellence will ensure a high level of quality training and equip course students with the best skills and knowledge for the workplace.”

Group Horizon Managing Director Peter Behan said: “Group Horizon are very proud to be named one of the IET’S first Centres of Excellence. To be recognised by such a well-respected organisation as the IET is very important to us all at Group Horizon, as delivering the highest quality standards of learning and development is at the heart of everything we do. We are all very excited about being awarded this status and supporting many more individuals on their professional development journey.”

TradeSkills4U Managing Director Carl Bennett said: “We are very proud to be recognised as an IET Centre of Excellence. We have grown to be one of the UK’s leading electrical training providers based on the quality of our provision and our strong brand reputation. For this to be recognised by such a prestigious organisation as the IET is very important to us.”

The IET Centres of Excellence programme offers an opportunity for high quality training providers to be recognised by the IET as a ‘Centre of Excellence’ and be able to use associated branding on agreed promotional materials and certificates.
