The Institution of Engineering & Technology (IET) has today issued a call for entries for its Postgraduate scholarships, part of the 2012 Ambition Awards. These include a range of scholarships between £2,500 and £10,000 for outstanding postgraduate students from within the engineering and technology sectors.
This year’s IET Ambition Awards are sponsored by GCHQ, RS Components and Transport for London. Current and prospective postgraduate students studying on engineering or IT programmes only have until 5pm on 28 March 2012 to apply for a postgraduate scholarship.
The IET’s standard postgraduate scholarships range from the IET Postgraduate Scholarships, which award two students £2,500 to assist them in undertaking postgraduate research in the UK, to the IET Postgraduate Scholarship for an outstanding researcher. This scholarship offers £10,000 to assist students working towards a doctorate for research in engineering or technology at an internationally recognised university with a high reputation for research.
“Postgraduate students produce some really groundbreaking research in the engineering and technology industries, and we are committed to supporting these outstanding young prospects,” says Linda Deleay, Awards and Prizes Manager. “As part of the IET Ambition Awards, these postgraduate scholarships are designed to help ensure the continual flow of postgraduate talent into the sector by helping to finance their studies so that they can realise their ambitions.”
In 2011 the IET provided over £500,000 in awards, prizes and scholarships, to promote excellence and research in the sector, endorse women entering the profession and encourage the next generation of engineers and technicians.
