IET promotions showcasing engineering for the Olympics

Engineering is at the heart of the 2012 London Olympics. As part of this theme, the IET has produced a number of promotions that showcase how engineering has played an essential role in ensuring that London will be able to host the games successfully.

John Armitt CBE FREng FICE FIET: Chair of the Olympic Delivery Authority “London 2012 has provided a platform for the best of British construction and engineering to showcase their work to a worldwide audience.”

“Transport is fundamental to the success of a Games. Engineers have upgraded London’s transport system to ensure athletes, officials and spectators can move around London easily.”

“There is more to the Olympic Park than the venues. Engineers have also created the web of roads, bridges, power, communications, water and sewage networks which link together and enable the Olympic Park to work. These are the lifeblood of the site.”
