Working in partnership, the IET and ITN Productions have produced a news and current affairs-style programme, 'Engineering the Next Generation', which explores the exciting and creative world of modern engineering in the UK.
With the government announcing the £229 million of industrial strategy investment, ‘Engineering the Next Generation’ brings to life the opportunities and challenges the sector in the UK faces, the changes in policy and long term impact on the UK economy.
The programme looks at the diverse range of jobs available in the modern world of engineering, combining key industry interviews and news-style reports with sponsored editorial profiles of some of the leading organisations in the sector.
‘Engineering the Next Generation’ premiered at the IET President’s Address on Thursday 5 October. The programme will be communicated widely to IET members, industry professionals, government partners, as well as relevant journalists, writers and bloggers.
Alison Carr, IET Director of Policy, said: “Engineering is central to Britain’s future economic success but this relies upon a steady stream of talent coming into the industry to help us deal with the major issues that affect us all, such as energy security, the next generation of transport systems and high-speed broadband. Our new online programme with ITN Productions aims to shine a light on the modern, creative and exciting world of engineering, and help attract the next generation of talent.”
Simon Shelley, Head of Industry News, ITN Productions, said: “ITN Productions is delighted to be partnering with the Institution of Engineering and Technology to examine what a modern Industrial Strategy WOULD mean for the future of engineering in the UK. We’re excited to embark on this project and engage with key organisations and people dedicated to shaping the future of engineering and indeed the future of the UK economy.”
