Payment methods

How to pay

You can pay your IET membership subscription fees in a number of different ways:

Direct Debit

Sign up to Direct Debit online via My IET (login required).

If you have not previously registered a My IET account, it is quick and easy to set up. Click on the "register" button that appears at the top of each IET website page and follow the on-screen instructions.

Direct Debit is the IET's preferred method of payment as it helps keep our costs to a minimum and therefore ensures that your membership fees are put to best use.

Online

Pay online by debit or credit card via My IET (login required).

By post

Send the membership payment form or the payment page of your renewal notice to:

If you are paying by Sterling cheque or bank draft, please make it payable to "The Institution of Engineering and Technology" and write your membership number and payment reference on the reverse.

We do not accept payment by Western Union.

We do not accept or take any liability for payment by cash sent by post.

By phone

Contact the Member and Customer Service Centre. Calls can be taken Monday to Friday between the hours of 0800 and 1800 GMT.

Payments in other currencies

If you are a member based in one of the following countries, then the IET has made special arrangements for you to pay your fees locally. Please select your country for more details on the alternative methods of payment available:

• China;
• India;
• New Zealand;
• Nigeria.

Billing currencies

We now bill in the following currencies:

• GBP £;
• Chinese RMB;
• Indian Rupees.

These will automatically be applied to your next renewal notice.

For members in countries with currencies not listed above, we will continue to bill in GBP £.

For members paying by Direct Debit or debit/credit card we will continue to bill in GBP £.

Please note

If you allow your membership to lapse and you were paying a transitional or concessionary membership fee and then wish to re-join the IET, the IET standard rate will apply.
