Apprentices completing an IET approved apprenticeship are eligible to apply for ICT Technician (ICTTech) and TMIET via a streamlined route.
You must be a member of the IET before applying for professional registration. For more information please visit the about IET membership page.
You can apply for professional registration in one of two ways:
If you have not completed an IET approved scheme you can still apply for ICTTech registration through the standard route.
Professional registration fees are payable in Sterling (GBP £), with special arrangements in other currencies.
They will consider whether you have met the terms of the scheme and are eligible for registration. You will be advised if any further information is needed.
The application process includes peer assessment by registered engineers and technicians who are IET members. These members are not IET staff, but volunteers who have been trained for this purpose. Please familiarise yourself with how we use your data.
Successful applicants for ICTTech will receive a letter to confirm the decision together with notification of Engineering Council fees. Once we have received your payment, which should be within three months, your details will be submitted to the Engineering Council for registration as an ICTTech. You will receive a certificate from the IET confirming your ICTTech registration and date of registration. Your registration number will be sent to you by the Engineering Council once the registration process is complete. Only upon receipt of your registration number will you be entitled to use the designatory letters ICTTech.
Should your application be unsuccessful you will be advised about the additional experience or knowledge required.
You may find answers to some of your questions in the ICTTech frequently asked questions.
We will do as much as we can to support you with any aspect of your application, so please get in touch if you need help and advice.
