On 6 October 2016 IET London: Savoy Place opens its doors for a day of activities and inspirational talks to mark the IET’s first Engineering the Future Festival and the IET President’s Address.

The Engineering the Future Festival brings together three events, which are designed to celebrate engineering and technology.  The Fast Forward 50 conference is being streamed live on IET.tv and on demand after the event. The conference explores some of the emerging themes and challenges in the next 50 years and covers topics from artificial intelligence and digital health to quantum computing.

For younger STEM enthusiasts, a series of interactive events aimed at 11-14 year olds and their teachers, aim to give students a flavour of what it’s like to be an engineer by exploring everything from computer coding to robotics and designing a Formula 1 car.

The festival culminates in the IET President’s Address, where Professor Jeremy Watson will discuss “The interdisciplinary jigsaw – developing the engineering future.” The President’s Address will be streamed live on IET.tv at 18:30 hrs BST on 6 October 2016 and will be available to watch on demand after the event.
