New open access journal now available on the IET Digital Library.

The IET’s new ‘open access’ journal, The Journal of Engineering, is now live.

As the first ever open access publication provided by an engineering, not-for-profit publisher, all of the journal’s articles will be free to view on the IET Digital Library.

IET head of academic publishing Daniel Smith said: “The Journal of Engineering’s launch is a significant move for the IET and the worldwide engineering community.

“For authors, it means more choice in terms of where peer-reviewed papers are published, and also more opportunities for high quality, cross-disciplinary studies to find a suitable home.

“This is particularly important as authors are often constrained by the scope of specialist journals whilst many of today’s engineering advances are being made at the interfaces between subjects.

“For readers, it means free, rapid and ready access to research.

“This is a major step forward in the IET’s mission to promote and support essential engineering intelligence.”
