Guidance on how to re-join the IET or re-instate your professional registration qualifications.
If you were a previous member of the IET, or the former IEE or IIE, and your membership has expired, it is easy to re-join one of the largest professional science, engineering and technology organisations in the world.
If your IET membership has been expired for less than three years, contact the Member and Customer Service Centre and we will re-instate you over the phone.
Tel: +44 (0)1438 765678
Alternatively, complete the appropriate re-joining application form below:
Application forms should be posted to the following address:
Wherever possible, please quote your previous membership number with any correspondence or payment. This will ensure your application to re-join is dealt with promptly.
Please note: If your membership has been expired for more than three years your membership cannot be re-instated over the phone. You must re-apply to join the IET, as if you are a new member, and meet the current requirements for membership.
If your IET membership has been expired for less than three years and you wish to remain professionally registered you must pay all outstanding Engineering Council fees in addition to the appropriate IET membership subscription. If you no longer wish to be professionally registered with the Engineering Council then you only need to pay the current IET membership fee. Please refer to the table below for Engineering Council back fees:
|Chartered Engineer (CEng)||£29.00||£31.00||£32.50|
|Incorporated Engineer (IEng)||£24.00||£26.00||£27.50|
|Engineering Technician (EngTech)||£14.00||£15.00||£15.80|
|ICT Technician (ICTTech)||£14.00||£15.00||£15.80|
If your membership has been expired for more than three years, in addition to re-applying to join the IET, you must also re-apply to be professionally registered with the Engineering Council. To do this, send the professional registration review fee to the IET with the relevant application pack:
If you require any further information about the re-join process, please contact the Member and Customer Service Centre.
We look forward to welcoming you back.
