Q: Is it possible to arrange that my outgoing message appears to be coming from my alias address?
A: Changing the "From:" field to your alias, rather than its normal setting of your "real" address, is not recommended. If the From address is changed, then there is a possibility that the message may not be delivered. Your mail client may well allow you to change the "Reply-to:" field to your alias address; please check its help file for information. Outlook and Outlook Express both have this option. Please also read the more detailed notes if you are considering changing the "From:" address in this way.
