Q: Why are retired members only allowed to claim a 25% discount but members earning below £18,000 can claim a 50% discount?
A: The IET does not allow discounts to be cumulative. If you are retired and your annual income from all sources is less than £18,000 or its equivalent in local currency (with the exception of members in India and China) you will be entitled to claim a 50% discount off the standard rate. Once claimed this will automatically be applied each year. Please note that this will not be in addition to, but will replace the 25% discount already claimed.
