Q: Are there any reduced rates?

A: Certain groups will be eligible to take advantage of reduced rates and discounts off the standard subscription rates.  These include students, apprentices, retired members, those on a reduced income and those on a career break.

Members are only entitled to apply for one discount so, for example, a retired member paying the retired member’s rate cannot also claim the reduced income discount. However, we have introduced a more favourable discount for retired members earning less than £18000, which, once claimed will automatically be applied each year.  Please check our website reduced rates and discounts .

Apprentices who have joined the IET from the IIE will pay the ‘Student and Apprentice’ rate during their apprenticeship (typically 4 years in total).

New graduates and newly qualified apprentices, who were previously student members, will receive a one year ‘post qualification’ concession.
