Payment of fees for members in China
Subscription rates for members in mainland China have been set in Renminbi (RMB) to reflect the local economic circumstances.
The table below provides details of the RMB rate that can be paid to your local representative and the sterling rate that can be paid online.

1New graduates and newly qualified apprentices, who were previously student members, will be invoiced at a concession rate of 180 RMB (£12) for one year.
Reduced Subscriptions
Reductions are available in certain circumstances, as listed below.
50-year membership
Members who achieve 50 years of membership in the 2008/9 subscription period are eligible for a 50% discount off the standard subscription rate. This discount is automatically applied to your subscription and there is no need to apply.
Students/Apprentices
Apprentices and full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students studying to satisfy the Institution’s membership requirements will automatically be billed at a reduced rate of £12.00 (180 RMB).
Retirement
Retired members are eligible for a 25% discount off the standard subscription rate (code A). The IET defines a person who has retired as someone who is no longer in receipt of any income from employment. Therefore, if you are working part-time then, unfortunately, you can not be considered for a reduction under the retired fee.
Please note that members who pay a reduced subscription and are registered with the Engineering Council (UK) also qualify for a reduced EC(UK) fee as follows: CEng £11 (165 RMB), IEng £10 (150 RMB), EngTech £7 (105 RMB). All claims for reductions or refunds must be made within 3 months of your membership subscription due date.
