"The benefits of being a member of the IET and being Cisco Certified include having a broad vision of developments within the networking industry, while also having a strong focus with a specific vendor. The IET provides an unbiased view of industry developments which is important as vendors typically have their own agenda."

Profile

I work in the oil and gas industry.  Gaining Cisco Certificate accreditation has enabled my networking knowledge & skills to be recognised at a certain level. This has enabled new career opportunities and provided me with the latest vendor specific information and updates.

Career History

After leaving university, I worked for Haliburton Subsea within the global positioning department. I then moved into the satellite communications industry and worked for a systems integrator called INVSAT. As a network engineer I was primarily responsible for the design commissioning of VSAT networks. In 2005, I moved to work for TOTAL UK, an oil and gas operator, as a senior network engineer. Latterly, I gained Chartership status with the IET and also industry accreditations including CCNA, CCNP, Voice and Juniper Security qualifications.

The IET

I joined the IET to gain industry recognised career development and networking opportunities with a highly respected and internationally acclaimed institution.
