Career Manager allows you to archive eight assessments within the system, if you have stored eight and want to archive your current assessment you will need to delete an earlier one. If you still wish to keep a copy of this earlier assessment you can download a summary and export this to word to save outside the Career Manager system. Please note that if you delete this assessment, it will also delete any verification that was against this, if you wish to retain assessment comments you will need to download these to word as a separate summary.
The system allows you to generate one guest ticket for each assessment, if you want to send the current assessment to more than one person you will need to archive two copies of your current assessment and generate two separate guest tickets.
This is due to a change as part of Version 2 of Career Manager, launched in March 2008. You can now download a summary of current objectives or a summary of previous objectives rather than one long report with both on it. This allows you to track your progress through time and share just your current objectives with your supporters.
Career Manager supports Microsoft Outlook and is not currently configured with Lotus Notes. To send a guest ticket to supporters for interim assessment via Lotus Notes do the following:
1. Select "add verifier" button to add an verifier;
2. Select "generate guest ticket" to generate email link;
3. Rather than selecting/clicking on the link "email to verifier" you should click the right hand mouse button over the link;
4. Select "copy shortcut" from the drop down menu;
5. You can then paste the information into notepad, or any other email client;
6. Edit the message, and forward the link to the verifier.
We are currently upgrading our membership database and have therefore chosen not to undertake an integration until the new system is available, which is scheduled during 2008. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes in the meantime.
You are not able to set objectives if you haven't pre-selected the competence framework you wish to use, along with choosing which specific tasks within the framework you want to assess against. To do this: return to competence profile section > personal job profile > browse > add competencies > select competencies > enter skill level > add evidence. Now go to the personal development tab and the set objectives tab is enabled allowing you to continue.
Currently this is not an option. The IET is working with employers so that a company version of Career Manager is developed which is tailored to their own needs and competence frameworks. If your employers would like to discuss this with us in more detail please contact us.
Our current version of Career Manager is not configured to allow neither external files to be uploaded nor the creation of hyperlinks, and this is not currently planned for future versions. The evidence field within the system is intended to allow members to summarise details of their evidence to support competence at the current skill level selected. You can find further guidance on how to complete your application on the professional registration pages.
