Recognition

  • ECUK registration as a professional engineer
Fellows and Members of the IET can apply for registration with the Engineering Council UK as the IET is licensed to assess applicants on its behalf. ECUK awards the titles:
  • The IET operates a four stage application process for professional registration. We will guide you through this, show you how it works and what you should expect.
  • Passport Applications
Acceptable countersignatures include ‘Engineer (with professional qualifications)’.  When countersigning an application it is recommended that your occupation is your professional registration status in full (eg Chartered Engineer) and that the signature block includes both professional registration as well as membership status (eg CEng MIET).
  • Licensed Access to Barristers
The IET is an authorised licensed access client (the Bar Council has been asked to amend the IEE entry to IET).  Although not specified, it is expected that members wishing to take advantage of this scheme must also be on the ECUK professional register.
