Clean coal development - developments on the IGCC plant

E.ON UK is already a market leader in research and development activities across coal, gas and renewable technologies and we're supporting the Government in its commitment to develop Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS) plant, a development that could help address the challenges we face in an increasingly carbon constrained world.

Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) is seen as one of the key bridging technologies in the facilitation of CCS. This paper intends to detail more about E.ON UK's main drivers and goals and the development of IGCC.

Climate change and the engineer

There's a lot of misinformation about climate change.  We'll look at the facts and put them into historical context in the light of the long history of Earth followed by solutions from the abstinence" of environmentalists to "market based" of economists.  The voice that's missing in this is that of the engineer but no longer! This will be an interactive session and you'll be involved and we want you to take part in a lively discussion.

The WAH-64D Apache Attack Helicopter

On the 25th May 2005, the UK’s Ministry of Defence (MOD) declared the first of the newly acquired Westland Apache Longbow’s fully operational.

Designed to hunt and destroy tanks and other difficult and important targets, the Westland Apache Longbow provides a major enhancement to the Army’s operational capability. The aircraft can operate in all weathers, day or night, and can detect, classify and prioritise up to 256 potential targets at a time.

This lecture will look at some of the Engineering aspects of this Helicopter.
