About this event
One of the major challenges facing the energy industry today is the need to meet the twin challenges of ensuring security of energy supplies for the UK and the global threat of climate change.
As the UK's largest integrated power and gas company, E.ON is playing a leading role in the development of technologies that will help us to deliver a sustainable lower carbon future. These technologies mean cleaner and more efficient electricity production, that meets customer's expectations in terms of cost of living and reliability and that assists country specific issues such as diversity of fuel supply, carbon emission reductions and economic growth.
E.ON UK is already a market leader in research and development activities across coal, gas and renewable technologies and we're supporting the Government in its commitment to develop Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS) plant, a development that could help address the challenges we face in an increasingly carbon constrained world.
Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) is seen as one of the key bridging technologies in the facilitation of CCS. This paper intends to detail more about E.ON UK's main drivers and goals and the development of IGCC.
This is a joint lecture with the Grimsby Institute of Engineers and Shipbuilders (GIES)
