On 3rd of April 2007, a new world’s highest average speed for a regular passenger service record of 574.8 km/h (357.2 mph) was set by an ALSTOM double deck TGV.
The objectives of this record testing were to explore for the first time the speed beyond 500 km/h in view of measuring and validating under real life conditions the aerodynamic, acoustic, dynamic and vibratory phenomena and also the critical components of Alstom’s TGV duplex and AGV.
This lecture will investigate the traction drive of the V150 model, its composition with asynchronous and synchronous permanent magnets motors and the traction drive capacity used to reach this record.
