The televising of the 1948 Olympiad from the Wembley sports complex pioneered advanced technical concepts and the first International Broadcast Centre for a large event. However, the 1936 Olympics in Germany were the first ‘Olympic Games’ to be televised and the huge developments in outside broadcasting achieved between then and 1948 will also be explained.
