Wales South East Power Technical Section

The Power Specialist Section was established in 1998 to provide a forum, in South Wales, for the discussion of Electrical Power Engineering topics, promote the advancement of all aspects of Power Engineering and to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and ideas through an annual programme of discussion meetings.

The section arranges 4 or 5 events a year in which we try to cover a wide range of topics under the “Power Engineering” umbrella. These may range from Generation of all sizes and technologies, transmission, distribution and utilisation.    Some meetings are of a specialised nature whereas others are of a topical and more general nature.  This year, all events will be held at Cardiff University, School of Engineering, and generally will commence with refreshments.

In this year’s programme we will be looking at Electrical Safety issues and a wide spectrum of generation topics commencing with the severn Barrage and ending with a seminar on micro-generation technologies and effects.

Details of individual events will be circulated in advance of each event.

All meetings are open and we welcome members, non-members and guests. The well being of the section is dependent upon your support and we welcome your feedback and suggestions for future topics to help us continue to provide an interesting and topical programme.

We look forward to seeing you at this year’s events.
