About this event

Being the latest in a series of ‘Great Debates’, the aim has been to show the contribution that can and should be played by Engineers and Engineering in tackling major issues, thus raising the profile of both in making all our lives better.

The event is jointly organised by IMechE, ICE, IET, and IChemE illustrating considerable local collaboration and will be attended by three serving Presidents, a DG and several CEO’s as well as invited political VIP guests who, one hopes, might subsequently influence thinking at high level. The event will be available subsequently as a video cast and might possibly be on line as live streaming video.

The ‘Great Debates’ started with recyclability of different metals used in cars which lead to Energy and, last year, Transport; it is now therefore totally appropriate that the environment is to be discussed. Many leading and senior figures in the field of environmental and associated fields are participating and early registration is strongly advised as the usual ‘Great Debate’ audience in excess of 400 is anticipated.
