Sussex Network young professionals section

About the IET Sussex YP committee

The YP section is run separately from the main committee. We have our own committee meetings and run our own events programme (included on the IET Sussex events page) although we work closely with the senior committee. It consists of recent engineering graduates (software, manufacturing, electrical/electronic and systems engineers), so we have more than likely been in your shoes and know what you are going through right now and what events you want to see. Our goal is not just to increase the number of members in the IET, but to pass on our knowledge and experiences so that you are prepared and able to make the best possible decisions throughout your career. One of these decisions is whether or not you want to be a member of a professional institution.

Benefits of IET Membership

Being a member of the IET gives you access to a wealth of information on Engineering & Technology related subjects and provides you with the opportunity to network with like-minded individuals at various events throughout the year. You will also receive a regular magazine keeping you informed of recent breakthroughs in technology including the latest gizmos and gadgets.

You must also be a member to apply for professional registration, enabling you to develop your career path. It is a fantastic opportunity for you to have fun, meet and socialise with other budding engineers. The people you meet here today may become useful contacts at some point later in your career, so why not get involved?

Get involved with the IET Sussex YP committee

We are always looking for more people to help out. You don’t have to play a large role if you don’t want to – you don’t have to do anything at all if you don’t want to but it would be nice if you did! If you would like to start an IET group at your educational establishment or at work then just get in touch with us. If you are thinking “I’d like to see this event run” then get in touch – we have the contacts and experience to help you put on that event. Apart from anything else, being involved with the IET committee means you’ll meet a whole range of new friends and like minded individuals, it’ll give you good transferable skills and of course, it looks good on your CV and Professional Registration form!
