    Forecasting the weather is a complex business. The forecast you see on TV is the result of a huge investment in IT and telecommunications involving thousands of people from across the globe.

    Graham Mallin, Met Office Programme Manager for IT Infrastructure, explains the role of IT in production of the weather forecast, and charts the developments which are central to making the 3 day forecast as accurate as the 24 hour forecast was 25 years ago.
