About this event

Visit to see Ocean Power Delivery's assembly plant at the Fife Energy Park in Methil where Power Conversion Modules are assembled for the Pelamis Wave Energy Converter. The Power Conversion Module is the part of the machine which converts mechanical energy into electricity via a hydraulic power take off system. Energy is stored in hydraulic accumulators contained within the modules to smooth the somewhat irregular wave energy input and produce a high quality power output. In the P1A machines shipped to Portugal and the pre-production prototype tested in Orkney there are three Power Conversion Modules per machine, each rated at 250kW.
