Dr Andrew J. Tickle, Chairperson - MEng, PhD (Liverpool), MIET, MIEEE, MInstP - Contact

Andrew J. Tickle received an M.Eng (Hons) degree in Electrical Engineering and Electronics from The University of Liverpool in 2005. He pursued Ph.D. study in the field of Computer Electronics and Robotics at the same University between 2005 and 2009 before being award his degree later that year. His research interests include embedded system development, digital signal processing, security management technologies, mobile robotic design and construction and electronics for astrophysical applications. He held an Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) student scholarship for the term of his Ph.D. Dr Tickle currently holds an Honorary University Teacher position and is currently a member of the IET, IEEE, IOP and SPIE and has assisted on several conferences and event technical committee panels. He was previously the Publicity officer for the Young Members Local Network Committee for Merseyside and West Cheshire before later being appointed as Chairperson.

Mr James Johnson, Vice-Chairperson - BEng (Swansea), MSc (Newcastle), AMIET - Contact

James Johnson undertook two degrees, a B.Eng (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Wales, Swansea and an M.Sc (Eng) in Microelectronics at the University of Newcastle. Following on from this he commenced his professional career with MWH in Warrington undertaking electrical design work for wastewater treatment works. This proved very challenging and rewarding in the sense that he wrote control philosophies to dictate how the works would operate. His current role with Costain Energy and process entails working with an Amtech software model to verify a design and size cables for the large Evaporator D project at Sellafield. The design has to satisfy an ambient temperature of 43OC and cables to essential services need to be fire rated. With his aspiration to become a Chartered Engineer (CEng), he became involved with the Younger Members committee two years ago and was the Secretary prior to taking on his current role as Vice-Chairperson. Being involved more actively with the IET has enabled him to build upon my knowledge of electrical equipment and gain an insight into other engineering sectors.

Amr Sufian, Secretary -  BEng (Liverpool) - Contact

Amr Sufian graduated with a B.Eng (Hons) Electronic and Communication Engineering from the University of Liverpool in 2009. He is currently undertaking a Ph.D. in “Intelligent Monitoring of Complex Systems” at the same university. He is ambitious to build a professional carrier in engineering and management and gaining Chartered Engineer (CEng) status is one of his career goals. He joined the IET because it’s one of the world’s leading professional societies for the engineering and technology community and it was an essential step for him on the professional career ladder. Amr is currently the Secretary of the Young Members Network for Merseyside and West Cheshire.

Miss Ria Pradhan, Assistant Secretary - Contact

Ria Pradhan is currently a fourth year undergraduate M.Eng student studying Electrical Engineering and Electronics at the University of Liverpool. She is currently the Treasurer for the Liverpool University sailing club and for the Electrical Engineering department’s student society ESHOCK. Her work interests include Bionanoengineering and the interaction of electromagnetic fields with biomolecules and cells. Ria is currently a student member of the IET and is Assistant Secretary for the Young Members section for Merseyside and West Cheshire.

Miss Neda Khiabani, Treasurer - BSc, MSc (KNTU) - Contact

Neda Khiabani received a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Khaje Nassir University of Technology (KNTU), Tehran, Iran in 2004 and 2006 respectively.  She is currently working towards the Ph.D. degree in the High Frequency Engineering Research Group at the University of Liverpool. She worked with Taliya, Iran’s first prepaid mobile operator, from 2004 to 2009, planning and optimising the cellular radio network. My research interest includes antenna design, THz antenna and application, and cellular radio network design and optimisation. I am a student member of Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) in the U.K and acting as the treasurer for the IET YM committee.

Miss Grace Carradice, Publicity - BEng (Liverpool) - Contact

Grace Carradice graduated with a B.Eng (Hons) in Electrical Engineering and Electronics from the University of Liverpool in 2010. After developing an interest in the field of Organic Electronics during her undergraduate degree, she decided to further this knowledge in the form of a Ph.D. which she is currently undertaking. She became involved with the IET in the second year of her B.Eng seeing it as a fantastic opportunity to liaise with established engineers as well as getting valuable experience in organising events and understanding the processes involved in promoting the industry. Grace is currently in charge of Publicity for the Young Members Panel at her university.

Dr Raj Kolupula, YMB Rep -  MSc, PhD (Liverpool), MIET - Contact

Yuvaraj Kolupula obtained his M.Sc (Microelectronics & Telecommunications) in 2004 from the University of Liverpool, he then continued on to complete a Ph.D. in “Pollution monitoring using Mobile Phone” which he was awarded in 2010. His research interests include sensors, instrumentation, cost effective designing and personal development. Since 2006 Yuvaraj has been involved in the IET in various capacities, these include: Young Members Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Marketing Officer, and University Representative. He is now the Young Members Board (YMB) Representative and is responsible for helping and assisting other members in their roles and responsibilities whilst promoting and recruiting young members to committee. Yuvaraj is a full member of the IET.
