It is predicted that the present mix of energy sources used in the generation of electricity in the UK will need to change in the future. This change will have to take into account, a dramatic reduction in the amount of CO2 released into the atmosphere if our commitments to global warming are to be met and, the security of our imported supplies of fossil fuels in a politically uncertain world. Whatever the proposed future mix of energy sources used to generate electricity, it must still be capable of continuing to meet, securely and reliably, the forecast UK demand.
This presentation describe and discuss ways in which future electricity demand can be securely and reliably satisfied, whilst meeting our commitments to reduce global warming, using a combination fossil and renewable energy sources.
